Tanner Green picked up his 3rd save of the season on Monday night
The Victoria Generals broke a 3-3 tie with the Woodlands Strykers in the bottom of the eighth inning on Monday night on a sacrifice fly by Patrick Duncan to score Eric Weiss. It turned out to be the winning run as closer Tanner Green notched his third save of the season with a perfect ninth inning to give the Generals a 4-3 win.
The Strykers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on an RBI single by Gabe Fyock. The Generals answered back to tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by Trent Wagner to score Weiss.
The Generals took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the third. Jude Vidrine hit a sac fly to score Billy Richard and Trace Knoblauch had an RBI single to score Weiss.
The Strykers came back and tied the game at 3-3 with single runs in the sixth and seventh innings.
The score stayed that way until Duncan's game-winning sacrifice fly in the eighth.
Daniel Tunchez picked up the win in relief, pitching two innings and allowing one run on three hits with two strikeouts. Tyler Schnuriger started for the Generals, but received a no-decision. He pitched six innings allowing two runs on three hits with four strikeouts.
Eric Weiss led the Generals offense going 2-for-2 with two walks. Weiss scored three of the Generals four runs on the night.
The Generals improved to 9-5 as the Strykers fell to 4-10.
The two teams will meet again on Tuesday night at Riverside Stadium in Victoria. It is Free Ticket Tuesday presented by Caterpillar at the Generals game on Tuesday night. All fans will get in for free courtesy of Caterpillar.
