Jordan Pacheco delivered his second straight dominant outing on the mound for the Victoria Generals as they defeated the McKinney Marshals 5-2 on Saturday afternoon in Dallas. The win snapped the Generals three-game losing streak and helped push the team back above .500 at 4-3 on the season.
Pacheco improved to 2-0 on the season as he gave up just two unearned runs through eight innings to stymie the Marshals offense. Pacheco allowed just five hits on the day and struck out five batters.
The Generals jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning after Billy Richard led off with a walk, advanced to second on an error by the pitcher, to third on a ground out, and scored on an error by the Marshals catcher.
Rudy Flores gave the Generals a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning as he deposited an RBI single into left-centerfield to plate Jude Vidrine who was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning
The Marshals evened the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth with the help of two errors committed by Flores at third base.
The Generals retook the lead in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI single by Alex Klonowski to score Kevin Daniels. They then added two more insurance runs in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Trace Knoblauch and an RBI double by Flores.
Tanner Green came on in the ninth inning to relieve Pacheco and got three straight groundouts to end the game and record the save, his second of the season.
The Generals and Marshals will meet again on Monday night at 7:05pm at Allen High School. The Generals return home on Wednesday, June 13 to take on the East Texas Pump Jacks at 7:05pm at Riverside Stadium in Victoria.
