Two of the Victoria Generals top players from the 2011 season wasted no time picking up right where the left off last summer during the season opener of the 2012 season as the Generals defeated the Woodlands Strykers 10-9 on Friday night. Chad Kruse, who set the TCL record for hits in a season last summer, started the 2012 campaign off with a 2-for-5 performance with a three-run double and a single. The Generals closer from a year ago, Covey Morrow, who set the TCL record for appearances in a season last summer, picked up with win in relief. Tanner Green came on in the ninth to shut the door and earn the save.
The Generals travel to Lafayette, Louisiana to take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters on Saturday night at 7:05pm.
The team then returns home for the 2012 home opener at Riverside Stadium on Sunday, June 3 at 7:05pm against the Cane Cutters. Magnet schedules will be given away to the first 1,000 fans courtesy of Mr. Payroll Cash Checking.
