Player of the Week
Andy Russell, Victoria
The Victoria Generals outfielder surged in the second week of the TCL season, batting .429 and slugging a robust .714. He clocked his first homer of the summer, drove in four, and scored three times in four games for the Generals. This marks the second straight week a Victoria player has had at least a share of the Player of the Week honors, as Russell follows teammate and Week One Co-Player of the Week Mark Hudson. Russell is a sophomore at Lehigh University.
Pitcher of the Week
Blake Ford, Victoria
Ford made it a sweep in Week Two by picking up the TCL Pitcher of the Week award. The sophomore righthander delivered a dominating performance with a complete game shutout of the Brazos Valley Bombers. Ford struck out 11 and allowed only three hits without a walk. The Birmingham, Ala., native will head back to Lamar University in the fall.
