Texas Collegiate League President Uri Geva and Victoria Generals GM Blake Koch
The Victoria Generals of the Texas Collegiate League received the “Best Marketing Campaign” award at the 2011 Summer Ball Conference Awards Gala presented by Baseball America. The conference, which was held last week in Nashville, Tennessee, brought together 15 summer collegiate baseball leagues from around the country.
“It was quite an honor to have the Generals recognized for our efforts by a group of our peers in the summer collegiate baseball world,” stated Blake Koch, Victoria’s general manager who was in attendance at the conference to receive the award.
The Generals won the award for their work in establishing the Victoria Generals Select Baseball Organization, known better around the Victoria area as the “Little Generals”. The Victoria Generals currently sponsor four youth select baseball teams in the area which all don the Generals team name. Over the past few years, the Generals select baseball teams have helped the Generals with branding as well as marketing in the community.
“On behalf of the Victoria Generals, I would like to thank Mike De La Garza and the rest of the coaches, players, and parents of the Little Generals for all of their help in establishing this great relationship between the Generals and youth baseball in Victoria,” commented Koch. “We’re excited about the future of this continued partnership.”
The award recognition comes on the heels of the Generals third season in the Texas Collegiate League. The Generals are currently working on new promotions, hospitality options, and partnership opportunities for the 2012 season which will begin in early June. The TCL expects to release its full schedule of games during the coming winter months.
