Chad Kruse
Chad Kruse picked up his second Texas Collegiate League Player of the Week award of the 2011 season as he was recently honored for his efforts in week 10. Kruse had a memorable week as he shattered two TCL records. Kruse now owns the records for most hits and most at bats in a single season.
Kruse, a junior from Sam Houston State University, batted .542 (13-for-24) on the week with a .593 on-base percentage. Kruse posted at least two hits in every game last week, extending his streak of multi-hit games to seven. His final hit of the week, in a 5-1 win over Alexandria on August 6, gave him a TCL single-season record 75 hits this summer.
Kruse is currently batting .341 on the summer, good for second in the league. He now has 77 hits and 226 at bats.
Kruse shared the Player of the Week honor with Tyler Migl of the Coppell Copperheads.
Kruse has three games left in the 2011 regular season to improve on his current records.
The Generals return to action tonight at 7:05pm at Riverside Stadium in Victoria as they take on the Alexandria Aces in the Generals final home game of the 2011 regular season.
