John Longoria
Victoria Generals' outfielder and first baseman, John Longoria, has been named the Texas Collegiate League Player of the Week for week nine of the 2011 season.
Longoria captured his first TCL Player of the Week award with a robust .450 average (9-for-20) in six games. He drove in six runs, scored five more, and reached base more than half of the time he came to the plate (.522 on-base percentage). He performed best when it mattered, positing back-to-back 3-for-5 games against the Brazos Valley Bombers as the two teams jockey for a playoff position.
Longoria was the third member of the Generals to win one of the TCL's weekly awards this season. Chad Kruse was the week one Player of the Week and Blake Denman was named the Pitcher of the Week back in week seven of the season.
The Generals return to action tonight as they take on the Brazos Valley Bombers at 7:05pm at Riverside Stadium in Victoria.
