Trent Wagner added two more RBIs on Saturday night to his TCL-leading total of 28.
The Victoria Generals defeated the Alexandria Aces 7-3 on Saturday night to complete the two-game series sweep in their final game of a four-game road trip. The Generals finished the trip 3-1.
With the game tied at 3-3, the Generals broke the game open in the sixth with a four-run inning. Trent Wagner hit a two-run single back up the middle for his TCL-leading 27th and 28th RBIs of the season. Chad Kruse would later score on an RBI single by Ryan Dalton and Wagner scored later in the inning on a passed ball.
Generals starting pitcher Blake Denman picked up his fourth win to move to 4-4 on the season. Denman pitched six innings, allowing three runs on nine hits while striking out four.
Trailing 1-0 after the first inning, the Generals scored two runs in the second on RBI singles by Grayson Porter and Santiago Ruiz.
In the fifth inning, Kruse scored on an RBI ground out by Freddy Villalobos to give the Generals a 3-2 lead before the Aces tied the game with a run in the bottom half of the frame.
John Longoria and Kruse each had three hits to lead the Generals who improved to 19-20 on the season and 7-3 in the second-half. The Aces fell to 10-28 overall and 1-9 in the second-half.
The Generals have a three-day break before their next game which will be at home on Wednesday, July 20 against the Aces. The 2011 Crickett Wireless Texas Collegiate League All-Star Game will be held on Monday, July 18 at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark in Bryan Texas at 7:35 pm. The Generals All-Star representatives will be Freddy Villalobos, Chad Kruse, Trent Wagner, Ross Goebel, and Covey Morrow. Villalobos will represent the Generals in the home run derby which will be held before the game at 6:15pm.
