The Victoria Generals struggles continued on Wednesday night as they were no-hit by the Acadiana Cane Cutters in an 11-0 loss. Cane Cutters pitchers Kaleb Manuel and Chris Cotton combined for the nine-inning no-hitter despite a few questionable calls. Manuel pitched seven innings to pick up the win, allowing just two walks while striking out three. Cotton pitched the final two innings and struck out two batters.
It was the Generals fifth straight loss of the season. Generals starting pitcher Tyler Smith did his best to keep the Generals in the game early on. Smith allowed just three runs on five hits while striking out seven through seven innings of work, but the Generals offense was unable to provide any support all night long.
The Generals fell to 12-18 on the season and 0-1 in the second-half while the Cane Cutters improved to 16-12 overall and 1-0 in the second-half.
The Generals and Cane Cutters will play game two of the series in Lafayette on Thursday night.
The Generals and Cane Cutters will then travel to Victoria on Friday to play a two-game series at Riverside Stadium.
