Blake Denman - TCL Pitcher of the Week for week 5 of the season
Victoria General’s starting pitcher Blake Denman tossed nearly seven innings of shutout baseball against the East Texas Pump Jacks on June 29 to earn the Generals’ first Pitcher of the Week award in the 2011 Texas Collegiate League season.
In 6.2 innings, the freshman right-hander surrendered just three hits and three walks while striking out a season-high 10 batters to notch his third win of the season and pick up the week-five honor.
Denman, a University of Texas - San Antonio product, now ranks third in the TCL with 32 strikeouts. He is currently 3-3 on theseason with a 4.91 ERA.
Denman and the Generals return home on Friday, July 8 to take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters in the first game of the Generals four-game home stand. The Generals will play at home on Friday and Saturday, will take Sunday off, and then play at home again on Monday and Tuesday next week. All games are at 7:05pm at Riverside Stadium in Victoria.
