Trent Wagner picked up his league-leading 21st RBI of the season on Friday night!
The Victoria Generals fell to 12-14 on the season with a 7-3 loss to the TCL-leading East Texas Pump Jacks on Friday night in Victoria. The Pump Jacks moved to 16-10 on the season and took another step towards capturing the first-half championship in the TCL. The first half of the season ends on Tuesday, July 5.
The Generals jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Grayson Porter.
The Pump Jacks then posted four runs in the fourth inning off of starter Michael Oros to make the score 4-1.
The Generals cut the lead to 4-3 with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Trent Wagner had an RBI single to bring his RBI total to 21 on the season which leads the TCL. John Longoria scored in the sixth inning after Kevin Phillips hit a single up the middle that the centerfielder misplayed, allowing Longoria to come around to score.
The Pump Jacks then added three insurance runs in the seventh inning to stretch their lead to 7-3.
The Generals were unable to rally back.
The Generals and Pump Jacks will meet again on Saturday night at 7:05pm at Riverside Stadium in Victoria. The Generals will be celebrating Independence Day a little early by hosting Red, White, and Blue Night at the game. All fans that come to the game wearing a red, white, or blue shirt will receive half-price tickets. The first 250 fans will receive a koozie and a cup courtesy of the National Guard.
