RE: Generals win third.
(Coppell, TX) The expansion franchise Victoria Generals of the Texas Collegiate League won their third in a row Monday against the Coppell Copperheads, 6-1.
Blake Payne (Seminole State) threw 5 shutout innings allowing just 3 hits in picking up his first TCL win. Chris Pena (Texas A & M/Corpus) was outstanding in his two innings of relief, striking out 5 of the six batters he faced. Weatherford's flame thrower Zach Nudding closed out the final two innings allowing one run.
Victoria's leadoff hitter, Brendan McGaheran (Lehigh) had a single and two doubles to lead the offense. Kenny Jackson (Texas A & M) had a single and double, as did catcher Dave Woods (Crichton College). Brian Nephew (UT-Arlington) had two singles.
The Generals are now 3 and 1, Tied for first place.
The Home Opener with The McKinney Marshals is Thursday, 7:05 at Riverside Park.
A meet the team Bar B Q is also slated for Wednesday from 5 - 7 with an open practice session to follow for fans interested in a sneak preview of the talent.
