RE: Generals Pick Up Second Win
(Coppell, TX) After splitting the season opening series with The East Texas Pump Jacks, The Victoria Generals moved on to Coppell Sunday evening to take on the Copperheads.
Tyler King took the mound for the upstart Generals and delivered 5 solid innings allowing only two runs - one in the first and one in the fifth. All the while his offense was scoring 4 runs enroute to a 7-2 victory. Chase Cleveland (Henderson State Univ.) worked 4 scoreless innings to get the team's first save.
Kenny Jackson drove in the first Generals run in the second inning with a triple to left center scoring Mike Davis who had singled in front of him. In the third inning, Mark Hudson (Sam Houston St.) drove in two more with a double over the center fielders's head. The Generals continued to add on in the 5th when Andy Russell (Lehigh Univ.) doubled to drive in Joey Kenworthy. In the sixth it was Brendan McGahern (Lehigh) driving in Kenny Jackson. The final scoring for the Generals happened in the eighth inning. Kenny jackson picked up his third hit of the night - a double, Zach Briggs (South Dakota State) walked Justin Klusak (E. Oklahoma St.) drove in Jackson with a single and later Briggs scored on a wild pitch.
The Generals are now 2-1 and play again Monday evening in Coppell.
Their Home Opener is Thursday at Riverside Park against the McKinney Marshalls.
