Michael McGraw hit an RBI double in the seventh inning on Tuesday night
The Victoria Generals offense was held at bay for the second straight night on Tuesday by the Brazos Valley Bombers pitching staff as they lost 3-1. Alex Mills stuck out a season-high 10 Generals batters in the game as he pitched seven innings, allowing only one run on two hits to pick up the win.
Generals starting pitcher Michael Oros turned in a solid performance on the night as well, throwing seven innings and allowing two runs on five hits while striking out five batters, but took the hard-luck loss.
The game remained scoreless until the fifth inning when the Bombers struck for two runs. The Generals answered in the seventh, but were only able to get one run in the inning to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Kyle Arnsberg was hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and was driven in on a double by shortstop Michael McGraw. It was McGraw’s first hit in a General’s uniform.
The Bombers added an insurance run in the eighth on an error by the Generals defense.
The Generals were unable to make a comeback as Garrett Sheppard shut the Generals offense out the final two innings to pick up the save. Sheppard struck out four batters and allowed only one hit.
On the night, the Generals offense was only able to tally three hits and struck out 14 times.
