Victoria Generals utility man Chad Kruse started off his first season in a Generals uniform with a bang a week ago, and the Texas Collegiate League honored him for it by naming him the TCL Player of the Week for week one of the season.
Kruse, who saw time both at third base and in left field, hit .412 on the week by going 7-for-17 at the plate with a double, a walk, and four runs scored during the four-game span. Kruse also made several spectacular defensive plays throughout the week.
Kruse, who took a medical redshirt this season at Sam Houston State University, has continued his hot streak to start the year and is currently leading the TCL with 20 hits and a .500 batting average.
Kruse and the Generals return home on Wednesday, June 15, to take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters in the first game of the Generals six-game home stand. The Generals will play at home from Wednesday to Saturday, will take Sunday off, and then play at home again on Monday and Tuesday next week. All games are at 7:05pm at Riverside Stadium in Victoria.
