RE: Generals round out roster
(Victoria, Tx) First year Head Coach Chris Clemons has finished off his roster for the quickly upcoming innaugural season of the Victoria Generals of the Texas Collegiate League. "We've added three pitchers that bring a lot of versatility to our staff," said Clemons. "These young men bring a ton of talent to our team, and we'll give them every opportunity to showcase what they can do."
Jake McMurtry is a Sam Houston State Freshman Pitcher who stands 6'7". Jake was - All-District pitcher for coach Steve Sebesta at Troy H.S. where he led the team to the 2008 regional quarterfinals, rolling up 8-3 won-loss record and 1.86 earned run average. Jake also lettered in basketball, football, track and golf.
Tyler King is coming off of his Freshman year at Hill College. The 6'1" lefthander will be used in various roles for coach Clemons. Tyler's hometown is Duncan, Oklahoma
Michael Oros is also coming off of his freshman year at San Jacinto. He totaled 13 innings of work picking up one win for the very successful junior college team.
Michael is a 6'3" righthander from Irving.
Brad Haynes, VP of Baseball Operations, noted that a couple of players have dropped off of the roster because of academic or injury issues. "We are very, very pleased with the quality of talent and character that has agreed to represent Victoria this summer," said Haynes. "We believe that local baseball fans will appreciate and enjoy the summer of wooden bat baseball at Riverside Park."
Season Tickets, individual game tickets and Generals merchandise are available at the team shop located at 3708 N. Navarro, Suite B. The Generals open on the road June 5th at the East Texas Pumpjacks in Kilgore, with the Home Opener on June 11th versus the McKinney Marshals.
