The Victoria Generals won the 2010 TCL Championship and finished the season ranked #14 in the nation!
In the final poll of the summer collegiate baseball season released by Perfect Game CrossChecker on Monday, the Victoria Generals, the 2010 Texas Collegiate League Champions, finished the season ranked #14 in the nation. The Generals were been a mainstay in the poll all summer, debuting at #30 in first poll of the season. The Generals steadily climbed up the poll all summer long, jumping up to #14, their highest ranking in team history, in the final poll.
In the summer of 2009, the Generals inaugural season in the TCL, they finished ranked #22 in the nation after being ranked as high as #16 during the regular season.
The Generals were crowned 2010 TCL Champions just over a week ago after sweeping the East Texas Pump Jacks in the championship series. The Pump Jacks were the only other TCL team to receive votes in the final summer poll of the season, but finished just outside of the top 30.
In only two short years of existence, the Victoria Generals have quickly established themselves as the team to beat in the TCL, winning the regular season championship in back-to-back seasons. The Generals finished the 2010 season with a record of 34-17. In 2009 they finished at 32-16, but lost in the championship series, just missing a TCL championship in their inaugural season.
The Generals will look to reload in 2011 as they set out to defend their TCL title. The Generals have 17 players on their roster from 2010 that are eligible to return in 2011 and also have head coach Chris Clemons signed to lead the team for his third straight season.
