With the opening round, best-of-three playoff series tied at 1-1, the Victoria Generals sent the 2010 TCL Pitcher of the Year, Joseph Dvorsky, to the mound to try to keep their season alive and move onto the championship series. The General's ace went 5.1 innings, allowing only two runs on five hits while striking out five to earn the game three win as the Generals beat the Texas Tomcats 4-2 on Thursday night in Victoria. The #1 seed Generals will now move on and face the #2 seed East Texas Pump Jacks in the TCL Championship Series. Game one will be on Friday in Kilgore. The Generals will then return home to host game two at Riverside Stadium in Victoria on Saturday night at 7:05pm. Game three would be in Victoria as well, if needed, on Sunday night.
The Generals jumped out to a 2-0 lead in game three in the bottom of the third inning when Jeramie Marek scored on a wild pitch and Conner Mach delivered a sacrifice fly to score Lawton Langford. The Generals extended the lead to 4-0 in the fifth inning when Langford drove in Marek on an RBI double and Trace Knoblauch drove in Andrew Russell on an RBI ground out. After cruising through the first five innings, Dvorsky found himself in trouble in the top of the sixth. The Tomcats scored two runs in the inning on an RBI single by Casey Grayson and an RBI Double by Nick DeSantiago. General's relief pitcher Roman Madrid was brought on with one out in the inning and runners on second and third, and struck out the first two batters he faced to get out of the jam. With the Generals holding onto a 4-0 lead, Madrid worked his way into trouble in the the top of the seventh before Kolt Browder was brought on to pitch. Browder worked the final three innings without allowing a hit to earn the save and send the Generals into the championship series.
