The Victoria Generals have won the regular season championship in the Texas Collegiate League for the second straight season, and for their efforts, the TCL has honored four of the Generals with some of the league's highest awards.
General's head coach Chris Clemons was named the 2010 TCL Coach of the Year after leading the Generals to a 30-16 record during the regular season and clinching the #1 overall seed for the postseason. Clemons is a repeat winner of the award, being named the top coach in the league for the second straight season. Last season the Generals finished with a record of 30-14 and were ranked #22 in the nation. In the latest poll released by Perfect Game CrossChecker, the Generals are currently ranked #19. Clemons, who coaches collegiately at McLennan Community College in Waco, has orchestrated the top offense and pitching staff in the league for the last two seasons.
Joseph Dvorsky, a junior right-handed pitcher from Texas State University, was named the 2010 TCL Pitcher of the Year. Dvorsky went 7-0 on the mound this season with a 2.66 ERA. Dvorsky pitched in 47.1 innings this summer while striking out 47 batters and only walking nine. The highlight of Dvorsky's season came on July 18 when he struck out 18 North Texas Copperheads batters on the night in route to the first nine-inning no-hitter in TCL history. Dvorsky was also named to the All-TCL Team as a Right-Handed Pitcher.
Conner Mach was named to the 2010 All-TCL Team as a second baseman. In Mach's first summer with the Generals, he led the team in home runs with four, in RBIs with 30, and in total bases with 57. Mach, a sophomore from the University of Missouri, hit .295 during the regular season. His four home runs were tied for third in the league while his 30 RBI ranked him second.
Mark Hudson, the 2009 Player of the Year in the TCL, had a monster second-half of the season after recovering from a broken wrist in the first-half. Hudson was named to the 2010 All-TCL Team as an outfielder. Hudson just missed claiming his second straight batting title in the TCL, hitting .330 on the season, just a few points shy of the league leader for second. Hudson, a junior from Sam Houston State University, had 10 doubles, one triple, and one home run on the season while driving in 20 runs and leading the team in slugging percentage at .476.
