The Victoria Generals were down 3-0 entering into the ninth inning on Friday night against the East Texas Pump Jacks and tried to make a comeback against the TCL's top closer, Dusty Ross, but were only able to score one run as the Pump Jacks won by a final score of 3-1. The Generals had the tieing run on base and the winning run at the plate to end the game. The Generals were unable to solve Pump Jack's starting pitcher Brad Kottman who pitched seven innings, allowing no runs on only two hits while striking out 11 General's batters to pick up the win. General's starting pitcher Jared Hopper pitched well but was tagged with the loss. The Generals fell to 28-15 on the season but are still in first place in the overall TCL standings. The Pump Jacks improved to 30-18 and are still in first place in the second-half standings in the TCL. The Generals will continue on their road trip as they visit the Texas Tomcats on Saturday night in Weimar before returning home for a two-game homestand to finish out the regular season. The Generals will host the McKinney Marshals on Sunday night and the Texas Tomcats on Monday night at Riverside Stadium in Victoria at 7:05pm.
