Re: The Victoria Generals new Head Coach
(Victoria, Tx) The newest franchise in the Texas Collegiate League has announced their selection for the Head Coach position. The Victoria Generals have selected Chris Clemons to take the helm and lead the team this summer.
Clemons is currently an assistant coach at Mclennan Community College near Waco, Tx. where he has spent 4 of the last six years. He was a volunteer assistant at Baylor for 2 seasons.
Brad Haynes, VP of Baseball Operations for The Generals, said that it was Clemons' combination of professional experiences and talent evaluation that pushed him in front of the other strong candidates for this job.
"Chris is exactly the type of guy we were looking for," said Haynes. "His strong presence in the dugout, knowledge of what it takes to get to the next level, and solid references should assure all parents that their sons will be managed properly."
Clemons was a first round draft pick by the Chicago White Sox following his Junior year at Texas A&M.
"I remember how important my summer ball experience was for me, both as a player and a person, and I look forward to being part of that now as a coach. I'm excited to see the expansion of the TCL in Victoria. I encourage everyone to come to the park and enjoy some good baseball. Summer baseball is about the players who love the game and want to get better. This team will be something the people of Victoria can enjoy and be proud of." said Clemons
The season is set to begin the first week of June with a final schedule to be announced in the next few days.
