Joseph Dvorsky thew only the third no-hitter in Texas Collegiate League history tonight as the Victoria Generals defeated the North Texas Copperheads by a final score of 7-0 at Riverside Stadium in Victoria. Dvorsky's no-hitter came after a two hour and fifteen minute rain delay to start the game. The game that was originally scheduled to start at 7:05pm did not get under way until 9:20pm. Dvorsky struck out 18 Copperhead batters on the night in route to the only nine-inning no-hitter in TCL history. The previous two no-hitters thrown were only seven innings long as they were each a part of a double header. Earlier this season, Zach Oates of the Texas Tomcats threw a no-hitter against the East Texas Pump Jacks, but was credited with a loss as the Tomcats were defeated 2-0 in the game. The only baserunner allowed by Dvorsky in the game was on an error credited to the General's infield on an over-throw of first base in the fourth inning. Dvorsky only faced one batter over the minimum as he recorded 18 stirkeouts, 7 flyouts, and 2 groundouts. The Victoria Generals scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning after the Copperhead's first baseman committed an error with the bases loaded to allow the first run to score. Starting pitcher Brandan Parrent also allowed a bases loaded walk in the inning to Brendan McGaheran to allow the second run of the game. With Dvorsky only needing three outs to complete the no-hitter, the Generals provided five insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to extend their lead to 7-0. Dvorsky then struck out the side in the top of the ninth inning to secure the victory and the no-hitter. The Generals improved to 18-11 on the season as the Copperheads fell to 10-20. The Generals will travel to Bryan on Monday night to take on the Brazos Valley Bombers before they return home on Tuesday to face the Copperheads again in Victoria starting at 7:05pm.
