With the score tied at 3-3 in the top of the ninth inning, Victoria General's shortstop Brendan McGaheran got a cluth base hit to right field to drive in the go ahead run which ended up being the deciding factor in the General's 4-3 win against the Texas Tomcats. The Generals got out to an early 2-0 lead after two innings of play on an RBI single by Andrew Russell in the first inning and an RBI single by Michael Niemann in the second. Niemann drove in another run in the fourth on a ground out. The Tomcats were able to scratch out a run off of General's starting pitcher Michael Oros in the bottom of the third and then received a two-run home run from Jake Fuller in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at three apiece. The score remained that way until the top of the ninth when McGaheran singled home the winning run. Kolt Browder came on in relief of Oros to pitch the final three innings for the Generals. Browder only allowed one hit on the night while striking out three batters to earn the win. The Generals improved to 17-10 on the season and are still currently in first place in the Texas Collegiate League. The Tomcats fell to 15-15 on the season. The Generals will head to Brazos Valley on Saturday night to take on the second-place Bombers before they return home to host the North Texas Copperheads this Sunday at Riverside Stadium in Victoria starting at 7:05pm.
