Generals Offense Helps Win Game One
August 2, 2022 – Playoffs has begun for the Generals as they host the Brazos Valley Bombers in the first of a three game series at Riverside Stadium on Free Ticket Night presented by Bobcat.
The Generals started the game strong in the bottom of the first with a home run from Jackson Hardy swinging on the first pitch to start an early rally. After two singles from Adam Becker and Reed Spenrath, Blake Bean would hit a single that would bring home Becker. Brandon Galindo would hit another single bringing home Spenrath on a close call at home and a dispute at home would bring Bean home and Galindo reaching third on the two errors from Grant. Angel Mendoza would be the next batter and would reach first on an error that brought Galindo home. Malachi Lott would be the ninth batter faced and would blast a two run home run for the Generals to get a 7-0 lead after the first inning.
In the top of the second, the Bombers get on the board. The Bombers would get the bases loaded with no outs. Ben Harmon would get a run on board after a sacrifice fly. Galindo would play great defense as he would chase down a flyball and keep the runner on third before a groundout would get Hunter Murray out of the inning with only one run allowed.
The Bombers would continue to score in the top of the third after a leadoff double from Tyler Hughes, Brayden Evans would hit a triple to bring home the run then would be brought home by a single from Becker. The Bombers would bring home the run after a few errors from the Generals to end the inning with a score of 7-4.
Bombers would remain hot in the top of the fourth as they would get another leadoff hit from Hughes. He would be brought home by Becker on a double with two outs in the inning making the score 7-5.
Generals would answer back in the bottom of the fourth with two outs, Chase Sanguinetti would get a single and would be brought home from a double from Spenrath. Bean would continue the inning after another double for the Generals getting another RBI in the game bringing the score to 9-5.
Generals get another inning of scoring as Mendoza would get a leadoff double in the bottom of the fifth and would be brought home on an RBI single from Hardy extending the lead for the Generals to five.
Bombers would get their offense back going in the top of the seventh after getting the bases loaded on two walks and a hit by pitch. Mike Adair would hit a sacrifice fly to bring home their sixth run of the game.
Bombers get closer in the game after Kyle Atkinson would hit a two out double and would score off a wild pitch to get another run in the game to make it a three point game.
Generals would respond after getting a leadoff double from Isaiah Walker who would get brought home from an RBI triple from Spenrath. Spenrath would score from a wild pitch to get the score to 12-7 heading into the top of the ninth.
Bombers looking to rally would get a triple from Garrison Weiss who would be brought in on a groundout from Adair. Generals would only allow that one run as they would finish the game with a win 12-8.
The Generals will continue this best of three series against the Bombers tomorrow night looking for one win at Brazos Valley trying to clinch their spot in the TCL Championship on Saturday.
