The Generals Head Home Victorious Over the Cane Cutters
June 30, 2022- The Generals played game three of the three game series tonight against the Acadiana Cane Cutters. The series was all tied up at 1-1 with both teams looking to take the lead in the series and be victorious heading into the weekend. The Generals are coming off of a close loss from last night as the Cane Cutters took game two 6-4. The Generals were not looking to back down in this ball game as they looked to get redemption and head back to Texas with two wins from the series.
The Generals started off this ball game looking to take command and show dominance at the plate. Samuel Tormos, the right-fielder for the Generals, hit an RBI to bring in Jackson Hardy to give the Generals the lead early in the ball game. The Cane Cutters quickly responded in the bottom of the second with a run of their own to tie it 1-1.
Going into the bottom of the fourth, the Cane Cutters insisted on gaining control of the ball game as they managed to bring in a total of three runs to extend their lead. Despite the offensive effort by the Cane Cutters, the Generals were just getting started as they responded with some runs of their own. The Generals left-fielder, Brandon Galindo, hit an RBI single to bring in a run. Following the RBI, Hardy will score off of a wild pitch from the Cane Cutters. Hot at the plate again tonight was Tormos as he hit his second RBI of the night to tie the ball game 4-4.
Following the huge comeback inning from the Generals, Hardy laid down a bunt that brought in the Generals catcher Chris Kean to give the Generals the lead 5-4. The General's defense was holding strong and their offensive threat was not done as they still continued to extend their lead. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning and bases loaded, Samuel Benjamin gets walked and Isaiah Walker scores. Another General got walked and that allowed Kean to make his way home to extend the lead 7-4.
The Cane Cutters managed to bring in one more run in the bottom of the seventh, but it would not be enough as the Generals score one more in the top of the ninth and a strong defensive effort will hold the Cane Cutters and give the Generals the win 8-5 as the Generals go 2-1 in the series.
