RE: Generals Ink Two More for 2010
(Victoria, TX) The Victoria Generals have announced the signing of two more talented collegiate baseball players to their 2010 roster. Jeramie Marek, a sophomore at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and Jordan Langley, a sophomore at Marion Military Institute, will put their talents on display at Riverside Stadium next summer for the community of Victoria.
“Both of these young men had tremendous success during their freshmen year and are considered to be the best players at their respective colleges,” said Blake Koch, Victoria’s General Manager. “Our organization feels that they both possess all of the qualities that we are looking for to help us put together another championship caliber team here in Victoria.”
Following a successful season as A&M-Corpus Christi’s starting center fielder and leadoff hitter, Jeramie Marek was named to the Ping! Baseball Freshman All-American Third Team. Marek led the team with a .335 batting average and was second on the team with 65 hits and 9 stolen bases. Marek also finished the season on a 22-game hitting streak which is tied for the longest in school history. He needs only one hit in A&M-Corpus Christi’s first game of the 2010 season on February 19 against Prairie View A&M to break the school record.
Before attending A&M-Corpus Christi, Marek was a standout player at Calallen High School where he helped lead his team to a state title his senior year. Marek racked up several accolades in high school while lettering in both baseball and football. Marek was named all-state in baseball his senior year as well as in football his junior and senior years.
“Jeramie joins our team with a lot of accomplishments already under his belt,” Koch commented. “Our league will allow him to continue to improve as he gets accustomed to using a wood bat against some of the nation’s best collegiate pitching.”
Jordan Langley joins the Generals from the Marion Military Institute, a junior college in Marion, Alabama. In his freshman year as the ace of the Marion pitching staff, Langley posted a 5-2 record with 3 saves while striking out 57 hitters in 53.2 innings of work. Langley has already signed with the University of Texas at San Antonio to play following his sophomore year at Marion. Last summer Langley played for the Southern Ohio Copperheads where he was named to the All-Great Lakes League First Team after going 4-0 with 7 saves and a 1.59 ERA.
“Pitchers like Jordan are few and far between,” said Koch. “Jordan gives us the option of using him as a starter at times as well as filling in at the back end of games to close in pressure situations. His versatility will be a huge asset to our team.”
