Generals Fall to Bombers in Home Stand Finale
June 20. 2021 – Second inning spark wasn’t enough for The Victoria Generals to pull out a win as The Brazos Valley Bombers take a 5-2 victory.
The Generals were able to score in the 2nd inning when Tyler Delong’s single turned into a triple after Bomber’s right fielder made an error that allowed Hayden Johnson to score. Shane Podsednik later triples on a fly ball to center field and Tyler Delong comes in for the second run. The Generals’ bats remained quiet for the rest of the game.
Carson Atwood received the win for the Bombers, going five innings with two earned runs and three strikeouts. In relief, Jack Brinley and John Cheatwood kept the Generals from coming back. Brinley had a dominant outing going three innings with five strikeouts and no earned runs. Cheatwood had the ninth in which he struck out all three batters in his one inning of work.
The Bombers started off with a double to center field by Troy Viola that brought in Grayson Tatrow in for the first run. Bobby Lada comes up to hit a two-run home run that brought in Viola. Ryan Snell hit a solo homerun and gave The Bombers an additional run. In the 8th inning the pitch ricochets off the umpire which gets away from catcher Shane Podsednik and allows Lada to score.
Colby Casey received the loss after giving up four earned runs, including two home runs and one walk in just one inning of work. Chris Foster, Mason Longoria, Kameron Snodgrass, and Bo Dallas all came out of the bullpen for the Generals to keep the Bombers bats at bay. Foster went three innings with no earned runs and three strikeouts. Longoria came in the sixth, going two and a third innings and recording one strikeout. Snodgrass relieved Longoria, going one and a third with four strikeouts and one unearned run. Dallas came on in the ninth to prevent more runs in which he recorded a strikeout and no earned runs.
The Generals hit the road for a five game series with the Amarillo Sod Squad in Amarillo beginning on Tuesday June 22nd. The Generals will return to Riverside Stadium on Wednesday June 30th against the Sod Squad in a two game series. |
