Summer Internships Available11/30/2016 12:47 PM
The Victoria Generals are seeking interns for the 2017 season. The Generals internship program is very different from other traditional internship opportunities. The Generals offer a more extensive internship program which allows participants to rotate through a variety of posts during the program, allowing them to benefit from experience in every functional area of the company. Interns will gain experience in sales, marketing, promotions, event management, baseball operations, ticketing, concessions, public relations, community relations, and game day entertainment. The goal of the program is simple; the Generals want to prepare interns with a solid foundation for a career in sales, marketing, communications, public relations, and sports management.
OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTIONS
Marketing In this concentration, interns will learn how to develop a marketing plan to target specific demographics. Certain semesters will include research on that demographic. Marketing interns will work closely with the local media outlets as well as the community and sponsorship interns.
Community Relations In this concentration, interns will learn how to develop the company’s relationship with the community. They will coordinate appearances for the team, Four Stars, and General Buckshot for local charities, sponsors, and community events. This position requires prior management or leadership experience since this concentration involves managing peer schedules and payroll.
Event Planning In this concentration, interns will learn how to create and execute game day events as well as other non-traditional events at Riverside Stadium. Some events will be created from scratch, all the way from idea conception to post-event evaluation. Other events will be second or third annual, but still need a leader to make the event run smoothly and be successful.
Sponsorship In this concentration, interns will work closely with the Generals’ marketing director to collect sponsorships from local businesses within the community. Sponsorship interns will also help with game day operations to maintain good standing relationships with sponsors.
Ticketing In this concentration, interns will work closely with the Generals’ ticketing director. Season tickets sales, single game sales, group nights, and birthday parties will be coordinated by the ticketing intern.
Game Day Operations In this concentration, game day interns will help set up for game nights. Game day setup includes concessions, merchandise sales, game day staffing, construction, and more.
