Generals Explosive Offense Gets Another Win July 16, 2022 – Generals returns to Riverside Stadium against the Bravos Valley Bombers after a week on the road. Generals are running their Strike Out Cancer Jersey Auction Night promotion presented by Citizens Medical Center.
The Generals pitcher Cash McNicholas and Bombers pitcher Price Simmering both start the game strong only allowing one hit each for the first three innings. Simmering had five strikeouts in those innings while McNicholas struckout one batter.
The Generals offense was the first to get started in the bottom of the fourth. Malachi Lott drew a leadoff walk followed by a single from Adam Becker. That brought Chase Sanguinetti to the plate as he would hit a two RBI double hitting the center field wall to give the Generals a 2-0 lead. Simmering would get the next three batters to get out of the inning only allowing those two runs.
The Generals continued to score in the bottom of the fifth. After the first two batters would get out, Samuel Benjamin would get the inning going with a two out double. That would be the first of multiple doubles as Lott would get a double to bring home the run. Becker would continue the inning getting an RBI double to extend the Generals lead to four.
Generals made a pitching change in the top of the sixth to Braylon Owens ending McNicholas’s night with five innings, two strikeouts, one walk, and one hit allowed. The Bombers also made a pitching change in the sixth to Richard Grimes ending Simmering’s night with five innings, seven strikeouts, six hits allowed, one walk, and four earned runs allowed. The Generals took advantage of the switch with Reed Spenrath and Jackson Hardy getting singles. Angel Mendoza would come to the plate to hit a powerful two run double to get the lead to six.
Generals made another pitching change in the top of the seventh to Chris Kean ending Owens’s night with one inning of work with a strikeout.
Generals continued to be hot on offense in the bottom of the seventh as Becker would get his third hit of the game with a single followed by a double from Sanguinetti. Spenrath would bring home another run for the Generals with an RBI double followed by a two RBI double from Cameron Nickens to extend the lead to nine heading into the top of the eighth.
Generals made another pitching change to Cole Payne ending Kean’s night with one inning of work and three strikeouts. The Bombers would get their offense going after the switch with a double from Kyle Atkinson who would be brought home from a single Wyatt Grant who got thrown out trying to get a double. The score heading to the bottom of the eighth would be 9-1.
Bombers made a pitching change in the bottom of the eighth to Ryan Pherson ending Grimes’s night with two innings, two strikeouts, seven hits allowed, and five earned runs allowed.
The Generals made a pitching change to MIchael Barta to finish the game. Payne would end the appearance with one inning, two hits, and one earned run allowed. Barta would strikeout the first batter faced followed by a groundout to Barta. After a walk to Mike Adair, Brayden Evanswould be the last batter faced as he would ending the game for another win for the Generals making the final score 9-1.
The Generals will have tomorrow night off before hosting the Baton Rouge Rougarou on Monday for Free Ticket Night presented by Caterpillar on a quick home game before another five game road stretch starting Tuesday against the Bombers and ending on Saturday against the Bombers.
