August 2, 2025 – The Victoria Generals finished off the Brazos Valley Bombers and would head to Baton Rouge for the championship game, taking on the Rougarou. What would begin as a pitching duel would finally open up late in the game as the Rougarou would take control of the game, winning their first championship in team history by the score of 6-2.
On the mound to start the game for the Generals was Tyler Junior College RHP Hunter Nichols, who would coast through the first couple inning, giving up a single to Rougarou Joshua Shelly before striking out Ben Robichaus to end the inning. Both the Generals and Rougarou would go down in order in the second. The Generals would get things started in the top of the third. Caleb Cotton would draw a walk, while Andrew Ermis would hit a double to right field moving Cotton to 3rd. Whitfield would hit into a fielder’s choice that would score Ermis as the Generals would head to the bottom of the inning with a 1-0 lead. The Rougarou would even the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the third.
The Generals would lead off the top of the fourth with a walk by Cole Tabor but would leave him stranded as the Generals would go down in order following the walk. The Rougarou would have a big inning in the fourth as Robichaux and Ferrebus would both single and Clement would drive a double to left field scoring both Robichaux and Ferrebus and take a 3-1 lead. That would force Nichols out of the game, and he would be replaced by Alejandro Marquez who would come in and get out of the inning.
The Generals would get things going in the top of the sixth with a leadoff walk to Reese Lunsford who would advance to second with a wild pitch. Tabor would later single, scoring Lunsford and pushing the score to a Rougarou 3-2 lead. The Rougarou would put up a run in the seventh and a pair in the eighth to push the score to 6-3 as the Generals would head to the top of the ninth, trailing by three runs. The Generals would come up empty in the ninth as the Rougarou would seal their first championship in their six year history.
