                                                  Generals Sweep Marshals to Open the Season

 

May 26, 2018 – The General opened up the season with a two-game sweep on the road against the Marshals. The Generals would break open a tie game 3-3 in the 9th with a three run home run from Zach Howard (Embry-Riddle University) to give the Generals a 7-3 victory on Friday night.

 

The Generals would pick up where they left off to open the game today with a 1st inning two run home run from Luis Oliver (Embry Riddle University) to give the Generals an early 2-0 lead. The Marshals would battle back with a pair of runs to make it 2-2 at the end of the 1st inning.

 

 The Generals would tack on a few more runs to lead 4-2 but the lead would not last as the Marshals would take the 5-4 lead, scoring three runs in the bottom of the 2nd. The Marshals would continue to tack on runs and would eventually take a 9-4 lead on the Generals heading into the 7th inning.

 

The Generals would get their bats going in the 7th with several extra base hits including Michael Williams (Paris Junior College) triple scoring a pair of runs to bring the score to 9-6. Howard would hit a two run double to pull the Generals within a run at 9-8.

 

The Generals would tie the game at 9-9 in the 8th on a wild pitch as the Generals would head to the 9th inning. The Generals would stay hot as Brady Disher (University of Arkansas) would hit a lead-off single to start the inning. Howard would reach base on a hit-by-pitch as the Generals would have two runners on with no out. Jake Miller (Blinn Junior College) would double, scoring Disher and Howard to run the score to 11-9.  The Generals would continue to tack on runs as the Marshals would head to the bottom of the 9th trailing 14-9.

 

The Marshals would threaten in the 9th with three walks in the innings that would lead to a run scored and a 14-10 score. Ty Hoecker (Angelina College) would come out and close the door on the Marshals as the Generals would win the game by a final score of 14-10.

 

The Generals home opener will be on May 29th against the Marshals, which will be a Free Ticket Night presented by TISD Internet Service. Fans can go by 1502 E. Red River to get their free ticket.
