Generals Fall 6-0 to Cane Cutters

Ross Goebel carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning on Thursday night
The Victoria Generals lost to the Acadiana Cane Cutters 6-0 on Thursday night.  Generals starting pitcher Ross Goebel carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning, but the Generals offense was unable to give him any run support on the night.

The Generals only tallied six hits on the night, including two apiece from Freddy Villalobos and Chad Kruse.

Goebel got into trouble in the eighth inning and ended up allowing three runs on five hits in 7.1 innings of work on the night.  He struck out two batters while walking three.

Denver Diefenbach gave up three runs in the top of the ninth to make the final score 6-0.

The Generals are now 5-9 on the season as the Cane Cutters improved to 7-5.

The Generals will host the Coppell Copperheads, who are in first place in the TCL at 10-4, on Friday and Saturday night at Riverside Stadium in Victoria.  Both games will start at 7:05pm.

Friday night is Hometown Heroes Night presented by First Victoria National Bank.  The Generals will be holding an autograph signing event at First Victoria on Navarro (in front of Kohl's) from 12:00-2:00 during the day.  Tomorrow night, the Generals and First Victoria will be honoring all of the service men and women who serve our community and our country.  All firefighters, EMS, law enforcement officers, active and retired military, and health care professionals will be let into the Generals game for free on Friday night.  Representatives from First Victoria will be on hand doing giveaways all night long.  A portion of the game's proceeds will go to benefit the Crossroads Chapter of the American Red Cross.
