Biography:

May 27, 2014 – The Victoria Generals are set to open the 2014 Texas Collegiate League Season on Thursday in The Woodlands against the Woodlands Strykers.  The Generals have made their final roster additions in preparation for opening day. 

 

Joining the Generals are Sullivan Stadler from Indiana University, Alec Horvath from West Virginia University, Kyle Danford from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and the return of J.B. Moss from Texas A&M University.

 

“We’re excited to get the 2014 season underway,” commented Mike Yokum, vice president and general manager for the Generals.  “We feel that we’ve put together another solid roster with great players from top to bottom.”

 

Sullivan Stadler, a sophomore at Indiana University, has appeared in 13 games with six of them starts, compiled a 2-1 record with a 2.70 ERA. He has thrown 26.2 innings. The Hoosiers were the Big 10 tournament champions after defeating Nebraska Sunday 8-4 to advance to the NCAA tournament.

 

Stadler, a native of Glenview, IL, was an Illinois High School Coaches Association All-State selection as a senior, batting .424 with 22 RBI in 32 games at the plate while compiling an 8-1 record with 70 strikeouts and a 1.79 ERA in 43 innings pitched ... ranked as the 16th-best prospect in the state of Illinois by Prep Baseball  in 2012.

 

“Sullivan gives us another solid arm from the left side,” Yokum stated.  “Sullivan is a versatile pitcher that will be one of our main starters when he reports to the team after tournament play.”

 

Alec Horvath , a junior from West Virginia University, will join the Generals after Tommy John surgery last season. Prior to surgery, Alec made two appearances in 2013 with a 1-0 record and a 1.42 ERA. Alec is ready to get back throwing again after an extensive rehab on his throwing arm.

 

Horvath, a native of Sugarland, attended Hill College prior to attending West Virginia. In 2012, Horvath compiled a .325 batting average, with 10 doubles, two triples and 16 RBI's. He also made 8 appearances with a 3.52 ERA with 17 strike outs in 30.2 innings.

 

Kyle Danford, a junior at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, appeared in 53 games, hit .289 with an on base percentage of .357 with 35 RBI's and 12 stolen bases. 

 

Danford, a native of Bryan, TX, played high school ball at Rudder High School in Bryan. Danford batted .457 with two home runs and 21 RBI’s as well as 16 stolen bases in 2011 … broke two school records in 2010, one with 54 hits in a season and the other for a .567 batting average … in 2009 he earned First Team All-District and All-Brazos Valley Utility Player and the Golden Arm award.

 

J.B. Moss, a sophomore from Texas A&M, returns for a second season with the Generals. Moss currently has appeared in 30 games, hitting .262 with an on-base percentage of .408 (second on the team) As a freshman last season, Moss appeared in 26 games, primarily as a pinch-runner and a defensive replacement in the outfield.

 

Moss, a native of Tyler, TX, played for Terry Pirtle at the Brook Hill School…named Mr. Baseball... received first team All-State honors three times and All-East Texas twice... logged a batting average of .554, 16 doubles, eight home runs and 15 stolen bases his junior year and an average of .447, five home runs, 11 doubles, seven triples, 34 RBI, 17 stolen bases and 60 runs his senior year... team won the state championship his junior and senior year.

 

Moss appeared in 37 games last summer for the Generals, compiling a .288 batting average with 31 runs scored (second on the team), 14 RBI’s and 15 stolen bases.
