Biography:

July 16, 2013 – The Victoria Generals have had a least one player from the University of Houston-Victoria on their roster for the previous three summer’s in a row. This year makes it four as the Generals have picked up UHV pitcher Andrew Walker to help them finish the season.

Walker, a 6’5” right-hander from Dayton, recently completed his freshman season for the Jaguars. Walker appeared in 13 games on the season with six starts. He posted a 1-3 record with one save and a 4.25 ERA. Walker struck out 25 batters in 36 innings.

Walker started his collegiate athletic career as a basketball player at Stephen F. Austin State University, but tore his meniscus as a freshman. Walker transferred to UHV to play baseball after sitting out a season to rehab his injury.

The connection between the Generals and UHV started back in 2010 when David Baker became the first Jaguar to ever play for the Generals. In 2011, John Longoria and Chad Kruse made their mark as members of the Generals. Kruse stuck around for the 2012 season as well and still holds several career and single-season records for the Generals. Kruse is also the single-season hits leader in TCL history with 77 during the 2011 season.
