Biography:

May 21, 2013 – Opening day of the 2013 Texas Collegiate League summer baseball season is one week away. The Victoria Generals continue to add the final pieces to their roster puzzle in preparation for the season. The Generals latest signees are Trey Wall, a right-handed pitcher, and Kyle Thornell, an infielder, from McLennan Community College in Waco.

“We’ve had some great players come to us from McLennan over the course of the last five years,” commented Blake Koch, Victoria’s vice president and general manager. “Trey and Kyle fit the mold and should both be big contributors for us this summer.”

Trey Wall, a 6’4” right-hander, joins the Generals pitching staff after a successful sophomore campaign at McLennan. Wall is currently undecided on where he will be transferring to next semester.

Wall, a native of Cypress, Texas, went 6-4 in 12 starts this spring for the Highlanders with a 4.79 ERA. Wall struck out 45 batters in 62 innings on the year.

As a freshman, Wall appeared in one game for Blinn College before transferring to McLennan.

Wall recorded a 16-3 record with a 1.86 ERA as a member of the Cy-Fair High School baseball team. He was a 2011 Pre-Season All-Greater Houston and 2010 All-Greater Houston selection. He was named a 2010 Top Houston Pitcher by VYPE magazine.

“Trey is another solid addition to help solidify our pitching staff,” stated Koch. “This summer could be a big stepping stone for him in terms of his baseball career.”

Kyle Thornell, a 6’3” left-handed hitting infielder, recently completed a decorated freshman season at McLennan. Thornell was named to the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference all-conference team.

Thornell hit .291 on the year with seven doubles, five triples, nine home runs, 46 RBIs, 35 runs scored, 21 walks, and five stolen bases.

As a senior at Magnolia High School, Thornell hit .315 with 24 RBIs and three home runs. He was named honorable mention all-district for his efforts.

“Kyle had a breakout freshman season at McLennan this spring,” Koch commented. “He’s got some major pop from the left-side and we’ll rely on him to provide some power and drive in some runs this summer.”
