Biography:

March 20, 2013 – The Victoria Generals of the Texas Collegiate League have announced the addition of two freshmen from Texas A&M University to the 2013 roster. Outfielder J.B. Moss and infielder Drew Featherston will take the field for the Generals this summer.

“Texas A&M has one of the best baseball programs in the country,” stated Blake Koch, GM of the Generals. “J.B. and Drew are very talented and advanced for their age and have bright futures in the game of baseball.”

J.B. Moss, a native of Tyler, Texas, has played in eight games this season for the Aggies. He has recorded two hits in 10 at bats with three runs scored.

Moss was a standout performer at Brook Hill Academy where he led his team to back-to-back state championships as a junior and senior. Moss received All-State honors three times while at Brook Hill.

As a junior, Moss logged a .554 batting average with 16 doubles, eight home runs, and 15 stolen bases. He batted .447 as a senior with 11 doubles, seven triples, 34 RBIs, 60 runs scored, and 17 stolen bases.

“J.B. is a talented athlete with great speed,” commented Koch. “He’s the kind of player that can really be a sparkplug on offense for us.”

Drew Featherston, a Katy, Texas native, was a three-time All-District performer at Katy-Taylor High School where he hit above .450 his sophomore, junior, and senior years.

Featherston has not appeared in any game action so far this season for the Aggies and will most likely take a redshirt year. Featherston is expected to be a future starter at shortstop at Texas A&M, but is currently behind Mikey Reynolds who returned to Texas A&M for his senior year after being drafted by the New York Yankees in the 20th round of last year’s Major League Baseball draft.

Featherston’s older brother, Taylor, played baseball at Texas Christian University and is now in the Colorado Rockies organization.

“Drew is a very advanced hitter for his age,” stated Koch. “He has a great left-handed swing and uses the whole field.”
